A very important aspect is coming up with funny wedding speech ideas that will help the groom find the perfect jokes. When I was writing my speech I wanted to look at ideas for writing a funny groom speech since this is a great way to please the audience.
Of course a wedding speech can only be funny providing it does not offend people. While I wanted it to be funny, I made sure it was going to be respectful.
One of the things I observed was that the father of the groom was communicating his own speech.
I wanted to make sure that I would not step on anyones toes. So not upsetting him in anyway and his daughter.
Wow! I won’t even dream on how those kind of corny jokes would have come across… 😉
Good Genuine Humor
When it came to my own wedding speech the use of humor was how I was able keep the audience’s attention span focused and being alert.

The toast should keep the groom in the spot light at all times as far as the crowd is concerned. And of course the bride being center stage! So I used humor at different times to keep everyone listening properly so that their retention rate was kept up.
The Perfect Jokes
The logical way to use this kind of strategy is to incorporate some good jokes into your main speech. You need to understand that your speech should not all be funny. The body of your speech should be sincere and serious but with some jokes thrown in at the appropriate time.
In my experience, I found saying something that is emotional or touching from the heart. But then add in a little joke to make people giggle so that they stay relaxed.
Not everyone will like it if you get too deep so remember to throw something in there to keep things grounded. We don’t want the box of tissues to run out!
Some More Tips
I learned that keeping your mannerisms casual and your approach informal is a great tip for a funny groom speech. Remember you are not giving a sermon in the Church, this is a wedding toast.
As the groom you should be, without exception, feel as if you are speaking with friends and family. And hopefully this is how it will be for you.
If you have read about giving good speeches in general you will know that maintaining good eye contact with people is a must.
Do not fix your eye contact just on one person through out the speech! This will likely make that person and the audience uncomfortable if you are constantly staring at them.
Please take note of what I just said here, as this is a common mistake with people giving a speech as it is the result of nervousness, adrenaline rush and lack of practicing your speech and preparing or planning of what you need to say.
It is not just your words that you need to practice on with making sure that it flows nicely. You also need to practice good eye contact with looking at your audience.
Make sure you do not just stare in one direction at the audience but scanning the whole audience.

I strongly recommend that when you are preparing your speech, practice running through the whole speech with family members or friends and do this many times until you have it perfect.
I found this help me greatly when preparing for my special day.
These ideas and tips should help you prepare a funny groom speech and get you on the right track.
I also recommend you look at some wedding speech examples before your big day.
